Job title: Project Leader – Battery & Charger Development, PSE/VE

About the Role The Senior Project Leader will manage multiple low to moderately complex engineering projects with minimal guidance, providing project management and technical direction to ensure timely implementation of initiatives supporting Value Engineering and Product Support across the Battery category.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership over design projects, guiding team members and reviewing work.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and document project meetings; track schedules to meet timelines.
  • Ensure completion of engineering projects within budget and schedule guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively across teams with daily updates and high-level summaries.
  • Drive design to meet market-driven requirements including cost, timing, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing needs.
  • Identify risks and implement risk reduction plans.
  • Analyze and select design execution approaches for mass production.
  • Oversee integration of components, materials, packaging, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct design and safety reviews to gain approvals for product development stages.
  • Ensure adherence to Milwaukee Tool procedures related to project flow.
  • Visually map project scope with minimal guidance and frame technical tradeoffs with Marketing and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Suppliers to deliver conforming products.
  • Motivate cross-functional teams to hit objectives while managing cost, performance, and schedule.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of project team members.
  • Interact with manufacturing plants and suppliers to achieve goals.
  • Review procedures and implement improvements for better outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field; graduate studies in Project Management preferred; formal PM training desirable.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with broad knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for power tools.
  • Proven experience managing critical path schedules and technical/schedule risks with preventative actions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through problem-solving.
  • Skilled in preparing and presenting high-level engineering and project summaries.
  • Working knowledge of technologies used in Milwaukee products.
  • Ability to draft comprehensive test plans and specifications.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and tolerance analysis.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, DFM, and DFA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to travel internationally (10-15%) required.
