Project Expeditor

Position Overview

Help Kiewit project teams protect construction schedules by turning supplier commitments into credible delivery forecasts and timely action. As a Project Expeditor, you will independently manage assigned equipment and material packages from contract award through receipt and closeout. You will challenge unsupported dates, identify constraints across engineering and manufacturing, and work with suppliers and project teams to resolve delivery risks before they disrupt the field.

You will execute the approved expediting plan for your assigned packages, set follow-up priorities within that plan, and manage routine supplier issues independently. Escalate significant schedule risk, unresolved cross-functional issues, and decisions outside your authority to the designated lead.

Location

This position is based out of our Houston, Texas office.

Responsibilities

• Translate contract requirements into milestones, reporting expectations, contacts, and follow-up cadence. Lead supplier kickoff and progress meetings, represent Expediting in project meetings, and contribute pre-award input when requested.
• Evaluate supplier schedules across document approval, sub-supplier procurement, fabrication, inspection and testing, shipment, and receipt. Compare baseline, current forecast, and actual dates against contractual commitments and project need dates.
• Validate progress through schedules, material sourcing records, sub-supplier commitments, and other supporting evidence. Challenge inconsistent dates and identify constraints that threaten the delivery sequence.
• Monitor the Supplier Deliverables Schedule and Master Document List with Engineering and document control. Separate supplier submission delays from internal review and resubmittal delays, and drive follow-up on fabrication blockers.
• Maintain credible forecasts and current material status reports. Record what changed, the supporting evidence, delivery impact, next action, owner, and due date in the designated systems.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier recovery actions for routine slippage. Conduct assigned supplier performance reviews, follow corrective actions, and escalate inadequate recovery, repeated misses, or significant risk with a clear recommendation.
• Plan and perform cost-effective shop-expediting visits to verify manufacturing progress, material availability, and delivery constraints. Document findings and follow through on agreed actions.
• Monitor inspection and factory acceptance test readiness with Supplier Quality Surveillance. Align shipment forecasts with quality-release status, logistics readiness, and destination receiving requirements.
• Follow packages through receipt, final documentation, and resolution of overages, shortages, or damage, including replacement or repair follow-up. Maintain the delivery history and evidence needed by Contract Management for milestone review and closeout.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in expediting, procurement, manufacturing, construction, or project supply chain, including demonstrated responsibility for independently expediting supplier packages. Equivalent combinations of relevant training and experience will be considered.

• Ability to interpret manufacturing schedules, identify dependencies and date variance, and explain how supplier progress affects project material needs.

• Experience leading supplier calls, securing specific commitments, resolving routine delivery issues, and escalating risks with supporting facts.

• Working understanding of contracts, supplier documentation, fabrication, inspection interfaces, shipping readiness, and receiving records.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for data analysis and reporting. Ability to use AI assistants and large language models (LLMs) to streamline and automate daily tasks, verify outputs, and maintain traceable records. Willingness to learn Kiewit's processes and systems.

• Clear written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize multiple packages without losing ownership of open actions.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, construction management, business, or a related field. A degree is not required when relevant experience demonstrates the required capabilities.

• EPC or industrial project experience with engineered equipment or fabricated materials, such as pumps, electrical equipment, piping, or structural steel.

• Supplier-shop exp editing experience and familiarity with tools used to review supplier schedules.

• Experience using material management systems and adapting to different platforms and project workflows.
