Job title: Project Engineer
About the Role As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the administrative and technical aspects of constructing a project, and you will lead a team of field and cost engineers. You will serve as the primary conduit of information between the construction manager and project team for cost, revenue, and cash-flow information, while mentoring junior staff.
What You'll Do
- Develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures; take corrective actions as needed.
- Inspect subordinates’ work for compliance with plans and specifications; point out deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Listen to directions and suggestions from supervisors regarding safe and proper work practices; devise and implement action plans.
- Evaluate information to devise and implement plans for duties.
- Observe functionality of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and needs for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Identify workplace safety hazards and take corrective action; implement lockout/tagout procedures safely.
- Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
- Manage document control: receive and log new issue drawings and contract documents; maintain doc control log; review for change conditions; quantify impact; distribute updates to field.
- Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections from project management systems.
- Purchase and expedite delivery of materials; manage material control operations.
- Assist the site manager in implementing the project quality/assurance control program.
- Improve project operations by recommending better methods, staffing, and procedural changes.
- Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects, providing supervision and on-the-job training for lower level engineers.
- Use effective verbal and written communication; read and understand plans and specifications; work with numerical data as required.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience/education in project or field engineering.
- Must be a licensed P.Eng. or registered member as an Engineer-in-Training or eligible to register.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in construction with an emphasis on safety.
- Working knowledge of management systems: accounts payable/receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates and subcontracts.
- Leadership and management of people, strong communication (verbal and written), planning, organization, delegation, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to relocate and travel as business needs arise.
- Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for subordinates.
- Ability to access all areas of the construction site.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation: $97,142/yr - $130,000/yr (actual compensation subject to variation by education, experience, skillset, and location).
