Job title: Project Engineer II

About the Role Project Engineer II focused on New Product Development for Milwaukee Tool's Hand Tools Business Unit. You will lead multiple small-to-medium scale engineering projects and work across global teams to deliver innovative products that improve efficiency and safety for end users.

What You'll Do

  • Lead multiple small to medium scale engineering projects
  • Work cross-functionally with global Design, Marketing, Quality & Reliability, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Supply Chain
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and drive execution balancing cost, schedule, performance, and risk tradeoffs
  • Monitor progress and provide monthly project status updates to senior management and the project team
  • Regularly visit manufacturing cells/suppliers to maintain open communication and provide troubleshooting analysis
  • Develop and leverage technical prowess to guide cross-functional team through risk mitigation, including Design for Manufacturing (Injection Molding, Forging, Casting, Stamping, Machining, Grinding, etc.), material selection and heat treatments, tolerance stacks, and part reviews, and root cause analysis
  • Travel internationally and domestically as required (around 15%)
  • Use CAD to design and iterate components; apply DFMA principles to control costs

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or educational equivalent; Mechanical Engineering preferred; minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically several times per year (≈15%)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of materials used in hand tools and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in CAD
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills; experience with design, testing, and manufacturing processes (grinding, stamping, heat treatment, coatings, machining, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and escalate bottlenecks; DFMA understanding and cost drivers
  • PMP/CAPM certification is a plus but not required
