Job title: Project Engineer II - Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
About the Role Project Engineer II in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering will develop and implement sustainable, robust, and reliable complex manufacturing processes to achieve aggressive cost, quality, and throughput goals, under the direction of the Senior Manager, Global Advanced Manufacturing. This role supports the design and manufacturing of power tool electric battery products and collaborates with cross-functional teams including New Product Development and equipment suppliers.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement sustainable, robust, and reliable complex manufacturing processes to achieve cost, quality and throughput goals.
- Apply knowledge of production manufacturing assembly processes to create scalable solutions.
- Work with New Product Development design engineers to evaluate manufacturability and advise on design optimizations.
- Lead development with equipment suppliers to deliver custom processing solutions to meet goals.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and breakthrough processes to accelerate manufacturing advantage.
- Utilize prototyping methods to develop and prepare engineering samples for evaluation and testing.
- Perform calculations and software-aided analyses to prove process reliability, capability and sustainability.
- Explore multiple what-if scenarios to optimize total cost with emphasis on delivery timelines.
- Emphasize fixture and gauging design using 3D CAD software.
- Lead manufacturing projects, providing direction and engineering expertise to team members.
- Facilitate project flow with cross-functional teams and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Assess staffing and skillset requirements for the operational complexity of the process.
- Lead milestones delivery through the VIGOR process.
- Travel domestically and internationally for machine and concept evaluations; estimated ~20% travel, typically 1-2 week trips.
What We're Looking For
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office and SolidWorks/AutoCAD/NX.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Ability to learn new technical material and be hands-on with engineering projects.
- Willingness to travel as required.
