About this role

About the Role Entergy is seeking a Project Engineer to manage and coordinate the technical aspects of new power generation capital projects. This role ensures engineering aligns with corporate goals and project specifications, quality, and performance. The selected candidate will be placed at Project Engineer I/II/III/Sr/Sr Lead/Sr Staff level based on education and experience, and the role is onsite in The Woodlands, TX with relocation assistance.

What You'll Do

  • Promote safe behavior and adhere to safety rules; identify engineered safety controls and hazards during design and coach safe practices in the field.
  • Lead/collaborate with cross-functional teams including internal SMEs, Owner's Engineers, EPC Contractors, and Technical Consultants from EPC contract development through permitting, engineering, construction, commissioning and closeout.
  • Ensure engineering and construction quality documentation supports audits and prudency reviews.
  • Support/lead Owner team in writing official Records of Decision to capture prudency of major project decisions.
  • Act as Contract Manager for various engineering and construction contracts outside the EPC, including Owner’s Engineer.
  • Review engineering designs for compliance with contract, permits, codes and utility standards; ensure designs support project goals.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to follow the Project Delivery System and produce required deliverables.
  • Participate in contractor/vendor selection to assess engineering experience and capabilities.
  • Support/lead open-book engineering with contractors and apply value engineering to keep projects competitive.
  • Assist contractors and vendors during design and construction to resolve technical queries and interfaces.
  • Ensure all firms solicited for engineering services are licensed in the project state.
  • Ensure project compliance with NERC and Security Standards.
  • Ensure project documents are stored in the designated repository at closeout.
  • Support/lead change management for design changes; participate in equipment inspections as agreed with the Contractor.
  • Support Owner review and signoff of System Turnover packages from Construction to Start-up and from EPC to Owner.
  • Support commissioning and ensure performance, reliability and emissions testing per contract.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience levels aligned to title: I (0-3 years), II (3+), III (4+), Sr (6+; 5 years PE/PMP or Masters preferred), Sr Lead (10+; 8 years PE/PMP/Masters), Sr Staff (12+; 10 years PE/PMP/Masters).
  • Fossil (gas) plant experience, preferably in CCGT.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication; strong computer skills (Microsoft Office 365).
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Expert knowledge of at least one engineering discipline (civil/mechanical/electrical/controls/chemical/construction).
  • Advanced knowledge of applying engineering science to power generation.

Nice to Have

  • Fossil gas plant experience with CCGT technology and/or related construction experience.
