About this role

With the Hilltop Campus located in the heart of the historic Georgetown neighborhood, and the Capitol Campus, just minutes from the U.S. Capitol and U.S. Supreme Court, Georgetown University offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, and unparalleled opportunities to engage with Washington, D.C. Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world.

Requirements

  • Job Overview

  • The Georgetown Center for the Constitution (GCC), founded in 2012, offers a variety of programs on constitutional law and theory at Georgetown Law, placing special emphasis on how best to remain faithful to the Constitution's text. Led by Faculty Directors Randy Barnett and Stephanie Barclay, the Center organizes numerous programs on constitutional law and theory. All of the Center's activities are designed to engage scholars, students, and Supreme Court justices in conversations about how to interpret and apply the document that sits under glass less than ten blocks from Georgetown Law.

  • This hybrid role is central to the smooth operation of the Center. A primary focus of this position is providing comprehensive executive, administrative, and operational support to the Executive Director and Randy Barnett and Stephanie Barclay in their roles as Faculty at Georgetown and Faculty Directors of the Center. Duties include managing complex executive calendars, coordinating travel, assisting with law school classes, course materials, syllabus preparation, exam logistics, academic research projects, and handling general administrative needs as directed.

  • The Assistant also serves as the crucial link across our operations, communications, and programming efforts. The Assistant leads the Center's day-to-day communications—taking primary ownership of social media management, designing and distributing email newsletters, and overseeing digital outreach—while providing key workflow support to the Program Manager and Operations & Project Manager on event execution, financial processing, and general Center administration. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in constitutional law.

  • Work Interactions

  • The Program and Operations Assistant reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Program Manager, Operations & Project Manager, and Faculty Directors on Center tasks. This position receives daily workflow direction from both the Operations & Project Manager and Program Manager, assisting with executive, administrative, financial, logistical, programmatic, coursework, communications, and day-to-day operational duties.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • 1-3 years of relevant administrative or program support experience, preferably in an academic, non-profit, or legal setting. Internships and related experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to interact professionally with faculty, students, staff, and distinguished guests

  • Experience with digital media and social media platforms is strongly desired.

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp), and social media platforms

  • Experience with WordPress is preferred, but a demonstrated ability to learn new programs quickly is essential. An ability to produce and edit podcasts is a plus.

  • A self-starter who can work independently but also thrives as part of a small, collaborative team.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.

  • Work Mode Designation

  • This position has been designated as hybrid remote 1 day a week. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Complete details about Georgetown University’s mode of work designations for staff and AAP positions can be found on the Department of Human Resources website: https://hr.georgetown.edu/mode-of-work-designation.

  • Pay Range

  • The projected pay range for this full-time, non-exempt position is $19.71 – $28.85 per hour / $41,000 – $60,000 annually (with a target hiring range of $24.04 – $26.44 per hour / $50,000 – $55,000 annually). Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
