Job Summary

• The Program Officer, Education, will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of education-focused programs aimed at promoting access to quality education, especially for marginalized and underserved communities.
• She/he will collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, schools, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support educational initiatives that empower learners and foster inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement education programs and projects aligned with the organization & mission, objectives, and strategic priorities.

• Conduct needs assessments, baseline surveys, and situational analyses to identify educational challenges, gaps, and opportunities at the local, regional, and national levels.

• Design and oversee the implementation of strategies, interventions, and activities to improve access to quality education, enhance learning outcomes, and promote inclusive education practices.

• Coordinate with government education authorities, schools, teachers,associations, and community-based organizations to advocate for policy reforms and initiatives that support equitable and inclusive education.

• Facilitate capacity-building initiatives, workshops, and training sessions for teachers,education officials, parents, and community members on pedagogical approaches, child- centered learning, and inclusive education practices.

• Provide technical expertise and support to schools and educational institutions in curriculum development, teacher training, classroom management, and student assessment.

• Monitor and evaluate program activities and outcomes, and document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future program design and implementation.

• Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and events related to education, and contribute to advocacy and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Stay abreast of emerging trends, research findings, and best practices in education, and incorporate new knowledge into program strategies and approaches.

• Supervise and mentor program staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality program delivery.

• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Timely and effective implementation of education programs and activities, as per agreed work plans and budgets.

• Achievement of program objectives and targets, including improvements in educational access, enrollment, retention, and learning outcomes.

• Adherence to program quality standards, including compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

• Quality and accuracy of program data collected, analyzed, and reported, including timely submission of reports to donors and stakeholders.

• Effectiveness of partnerships and collaborations established to support program implementation and sustainability.

• Performance and professional development of program staff, including regular feedback, coaching, and capacity-building initiatives.

• Representation of the organization in relevant forums and events, and contributions to advocacy and knowledge-sharing efforts in the education sector.

• Demonstration of leadership, teamwork, and ethical conduct in carrying out program responsibilities.

• Continuous learning and professional growth, demonstrated through participation in relevant training, conferences, and capacity-building activities.

• Required Qualifications and Experience

• A Degree in Education, International Development, Social Sciences, or related field.

• Minimum of 3years’ experience in education program management, preferably in the NGO sector.

• Strong understanding of education issues, including access, quality, equity, and inclusion.

• Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, donors, and other stakeholders.

• Proven experience in project management, research, policy advocacy, and program development in Public Health.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in relevant computer software applications, including Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis software.
