About Us
OpenFX is on a mission to move money as freely as data, unrestricted by time zones, banking hours, or legacy systems. We are building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of cross-border payment systems for institutions. The team's execution has been exceptional, and we're scaling at a remarkable pace. Our early team comes from companies like J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, FalconX, PayPal, Affirm, Polygon, Kraken, Nium and others. We're backed by Accel, Lightspeed, NFX and other top-tier investors.
Role Overview
Launching a new product or expanding into a new geography is one of the hardest things a cross-border payments company does. Each launch depends on licenses and regulatory approvals, banking and liquidity partners, compliance controls, settlement operations and go-to-market readiness. It needs coordinated work from nearly every function: Product, R&D, Legal, Licensing, Compliance, Trade Ops, Partnerships, Marketing, Sales and Finance.
We are hiring our first Program Manager to lead the cross-functional planning and execution of OpenFX's most strategic initiatives, turning company priorities into launches that meet their business goals. Working alongside Product, which owns the why and what, you will own the how and when: one plan across every function, the critical path through regulators and partners, and the trade-offs leadership needs to decide. You will be measured on outcomes: launches that go live on time, within scope, and hit their business KPIs.
This is a high-visibility role in Ops, working directly with the executive team. You will lead through influence rather than authority, and build OpenFX's program management function from the ground up as we scale into new markets.
Key Responsibilities
-
Integrated planning
-
Join initiatives at the idea stage, not at build, so cross-functional needs shape the plan instead of disrupting it.
-
Build and own one integrated plan covering what, how, when and dependencies for every function involved.
-
Map stakeholders and define team roles, and collect requirements from non-product functions early (compliance controls, licensing, reporting, operational processes) to prevent late scope drift.
-
Plan in iterations, defining MVP, V1 and V2 so we deliver value to market fast, not waterfall.
-
Operating rhythm
-
Set up and run a lightweight "way we work" per initiative: kickoff, weekly cross-functional syncs, weekly status reports, monthly steering reviews and post-launch retrospectives.
-
Keep the framework minimal: every forum and artifact must speed up execution, and you drop any that don't.
-
Delivery tracking and risk management
-
Track progress against plan, maintain the RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, decisions) and remove blockers.
-
Surface critical dependencies early: licenses, regulatory approvals, banking and liquidity partners, compliance requirements.
-
Make scope, timeline and effort trade-offs visible early and bring options to the right owner for a decision.
-
Launch readiness
-
Own the readiness checklist and go/no-go process across all functions, from planning to launch.
-
Run gate checkpoints with Product, so work moves forward only when every function has signed off on requirements, committed to the plan and confirmed readiness.
-
Lead post-launch KPI reviews at 3 and 6 months.
-
Transparency and stakeholder management
-
Be the single source of truth for executives on status, risks and decisions needed.
-
Partner closely with Product and function leads without standing between them; keep shared ownership of outcomes across the team.
-
Building the function
-
Design, roll out and refine OpenFX's program management framework with leadership and function leads.
-
Measure the role on outcomes: on-time launch, scope delivered, effort vs. plan, fewer late surprises, readiness and business KPIs met.
What we are looking for
Must-haves:
-
7+ years of experience in program management, technical program management or similar cross-functional delivery roles, preferably in fintech.
-
A track record of launching complex, cross-functional initiatives (new markets, products or regulated offerings) end to end.
-
A goal-oriented mindset: you measure success by business outcomes and KPIs, not activity, and keep the team focused on what moves them.
-
Strong analytical skills: you use data to set baselines, track progress, size trade-offs and back recommendations to leadership.
-
Ability to lead through influence: aligning Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Ops, Sales and Finance without direct authority.
-
Strong planning skills: dependency mapping, risk management, readiness and go/no-go processes.
-
A pragmatic, iterative approach; you know when process helps and when it slows a team down.
-
Strong collaboration and communication skills: you build trust across teams and seniority levels, align people with different priorities, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally, from day-to-day updates to concise executive reporting.
-
Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced startup environment.
What helps you stand out:
-
Program management experience at a payments, FX, crypto or other fintech company.
-
Experience with regulated launches: licensing, AML/KYC controls, banking or liquidity partner onboarding.
-
Familiarity with FX markets, cross-border payments or stablecoin infrastructure.
-
Experience building a program management function or framework from scratch.
-
PMP, PgMP or similar certification (nice to have, not required).
What We Offer
-
Competitive salary and benefits package.
-
Equity in a rapidly growing company.
-
The chance to build OpenFX's program management function from the ground up.
-
Opportunity to make a significant impact on global financial infrastructure.
-
Collaborative work culture with emphasis on personal and professional growth.
