Job title: Program Management Director
About the Role The Program Management Director leads the Business Enablement portfolio within Abbott’s PMO, overseeing customer experience, commercial enablement and quality programs. The role drives end-to-end program orchestration and governance at enterprise scale across global markets, owning the portfolio system that enables consistent execution of initiatives. It operates in a highly matrixed environment and translates business objectives into actionable programs and projects across multiple functions and time zones.
What You'll Do
- Translate enterprise and divisional strategy into executable portfolio plans and prioritized roadmaps.
- Ensure all business enablement portfolio initiatives align to product roadmaps, Integrated Business Planning, and strategic priorities.
- Orchestrate dependencies across product ecosystems and internal functions.
- Define and lead portfolio governance structures; establish decision frameworks, escalation pathways, and performance tracking mechanisms.
- Ensure disciplined execution through repeatable processes and consistent standards; enforce go-live readiness criteria and drive high-quality execution across global product launches and releases.
- Provide executive communication and decision support: frame options, trade-offs, and recommendations; escalate issues requiring executive alignment.
- Build and lead a high-performing PMO organization; develop succession pipelines and drive adoption of best practices, tools, and standard ways of working.
- Drive governance design, operating models, and portfolio prioritization to enable scalable execution and organizational capability.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years experience in program/portfolio leadership within a global, matrixed team; preferably with consumer-focused medical or software products.

Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-level portfolios and influence senior stakeholders; collaborate effectively with global stakeholders across multiple time zones.

Deep expertise in governance design, operating models, and portfolio prioritization; strong executive communication and decision-making skills.

Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams; experience with portfolio management tools and reporting frameworks.

Ability to collect information from multiple sources, synthesize and resolve conflicting requirements and cross-functional issues; strong leadership and communication skills.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications):

Cross-functional experience in Commercial, BTS/IT and Quality; knowledge of regulatory standards for medical devices.

Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-level portfolios and influence senior stakeholders across global time zones.

Strong governance design and operating model expertise; proficiency with portfolio management tools and reporting frameworks.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels of the organization.
