Description

  • Reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Experiences, the Program Coordinator works with the Office of Clinical Experiences staff, assistant deans, educational data and analytics staff, course and clerkship directors, faculty, and other program coordinators to plan and implement student schedules and clerkship components, ensuring that specified curriculum and educational requirements are met. The Program Coordinator prepares course/clerkship schedules including planning, organizing, and evaluating program activities. The Program Coordinator works on a dynamic and cooperative team that supports the Zucker School of Medicine (ZSOM) in its goal to offer an innovative and fully integrated curriculum. Curricular areas assigned to this position include: third-year core clerkships and fourth-year acting internships and electives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Works closely with clerkship, acting internship, and selective/elective directors to plan and implement the delivery and evaluation of the Second 100 Weeks/Clinical Experiences educational program and its related activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the ZSOM.
  • Provides administrative support necessary to enable faculty to be successful, including managing correspondence, scheduling, attending and keeping record of meetings, tracking the completion of tasks, and helping with educational technology.
  • Prepares and continuously updates program materials, schedules, reports, and meeting materials/agendas, and coordinates any related student sessions and faculty meetings.
  • Prepares assessment and evaluation schedules, provides administrative support for assessment and evaluation process, and works with the educational data and analytics team to share student assessment and program/faculty evaluation data with clerkship/acting internship/selective/elective directors.
  • Recognizes issues of concern as they arise and tracks and follows up on program needs in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Routinely reviews and updates office manuals and materials related to course/clerkship components and processes.
  • Assists deans, directors, faculty, and program coordinators/managers with projects (research or otherwise) related to the courses/clerkships, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.

  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible administrative, program coordination, or higher education experience.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Customer-service oriented and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage and track multiple active elements of the program simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to work in a highly trafficked office environment.

  • Ability to lift and/or transport up to 15 pounds for class, as needed.

  • Must be able to provide their own transportation to and from off-site meetings.

  • Early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required during busy periods.

  • Must have extensive computing experience and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Salary/Salary Range $61,000 - $63,500

Hofstra University provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
