Description

  • The Program Coordinator serves in two capacities. First, the position coordinates the School of the Arts shared curriculum, including SOA 200 course scheduling, instructor assignments and staffing, assessment, reporting, budget management, and related events. The position exercises substantial responsibility for the planning, coordination, and administration of shared curriculum operations across the School of the Arts and collaborates extensively with faculty, staff, department chairs, and the Associate Dean to support the effective delivery of the curriculum. Second, the position serves as the administrative and operational coordinator for the Department of Art & Design, providing support for departmental operations, faculty and student needs, academic programs, budget management, assessment, NASAD accreditation, Samford ART GALLERY support and related activities.

  • Job Duties

  • Coordinate School of the Arts shared curriculum course scheduling, instructor assignments and staffing, assessment activities, shared curriculum budget management, and communication with School of the Arts department chairs.

  • Manage and monitor budget-related activities associated with the School of the Arts shared curriculum and the Department of Art & Design, including oversight of expenditures, budget planning, budget management, and related financial processes within established university policies and procedures.

  • Support Event and Show Planning in the Samford Art Gallery

  • In consultation with the Department Chair, coordinate the Department of Art & Design course schedule, including course offerings, room assignments, and scheduling logistics.

  • Serve as Course Guardian for Art & Design and SOA 200 courses, including course creation, room scheduling, and permit override processing.

  • Serve as Building Coordinator for the Art Lofts.

  • Support Department of Art & Design gallery exhibitions, including scheduling and related logistics.

  • Assist with accreditation, assessment, reporting, and compliance activities related to the Department of Art & Design and School of the Arts programs.

  • Coordinate and supervise student workers for the Department of Art & Design.

  • Serve as SPACES, Banner, and Argos administrator for the Department of Art & Design and SOA 200.

  • Process faculty Letters of Agreement, supplemental pay forms, and student employee TimeClock records for the Department of Art & Design and SOA 200.

  • Process student course evaluations for the Department of Art & Design and SOA 200 courses.

  • Complete additional assignments as directed by the Department Chair and/or Associate Dean of the School of the Arts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum one (1) year of work experience related to general office duties, financial management, and/or related administrative functions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to report to work by 8:00 a.m. daily.

  • Ability to work continuously throughout the day, including extended periods of sitting.

  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to take direction and work independently.

  • Ability to occasionally work at an evening art gallery reception.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and push boxes or office items weighing up to 15 pounds.

  • Ability to traverse campus regularly.

  • Ability to attend in person, virtual, and telephone meetings and to communicate clearly and verbal and in writing.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SPACES, Banner, and/or Argos.
