About the Role Youngstown State University seeks a Program Coordinator to plan, develop, and deliver a year-round academic support and enrichment program for ninth through twelfth grade at-risk students enrolled at Warren G. Harding High School. The role mentors and monitors academic progress of students who matriculate to YSU and ensures the daily function of operations for the program under general supervision.
What You'll Do
- Recruit and monitor participants for the Academic Achievers program.
- Develop and deliver a summer residential program, including social, recreational, and cultural activities; coordinate with university constituents; schedule and supervise living facilities and meals.
- Develop and supervise year-round activities (weekly after-school tutoring, Saturday enrichment programs, ACT preparation, college readiness workshops, cultural enrichment).
- Work with matriculated college students to support academic progress and alignment with scholarship requirements.
- Collaborate with university constituents on programming and events that benefit student experiences.
- Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate all student and professional educational staff for both year-round and summer programs.
- Collaborate with high school administration and faculty to promote the program and align with the high school curriculum.
- Meet bi-monthly with each matriculated student to monitor academic performance, make referrals to support services, and advise on scholarship continuation; monitor Scholarship expenditures.
- Propose budgets and monitor expenditures; coordinate daily tasks for assigned components.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare data reports, and communicate with supervisor, staff, and students; prepare for and attend events.
- Stay informed of developments; participate in staff development activities; attend meetings and conferences.
- Assist with training new hires; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor’s degree; training in developmental education, secondary and/or higher education student services.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of university policies and procedures; office practices; records management; data entry; computer operation; ability to train or instruct others; work both independently and in a team; maintain effective working relationships.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; training or experience in social work and/or early adult education; social work licensure.
