About the Role The Department of Religion and Theology at Stillman College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Professor position at any rank. Successful applicants will possess a Ph.D. in Religion, Theology, Biblical Studies, Ethics, Ministry, or a closely related field from an accredited institution, with ABD candidates nearing completion considered. The department seeks a candidate committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, scholarly engagement, and service within a liberal arts environment rooted in Stillman College's historic mission.
What You'll Do
- Teach religion and theology courses as needed by the Department.
- Incorporate active student learning and appropriate technology use in the classroom.
- Advise and mentor students as they matriculate through the curriculum established by the Department of Religion and Theology.
- Participate in curriculum assessment, program development, and departmental initiatives.
- Engage in service activities relevant to the applicant’s field of study as well as to the mission of the department, division, and College.
- Engage in professional development activities such as scholarship, conference presentations, grant writing, and workshops.
- Support the College’s mission through student engagement, campus activities, and community outreach.
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. in Religion, Theology, Biblical Studies, Ethics, Ministry, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates nearing completion may also be considered.
- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, scholarly engagement, and service.
- Ability to teach courses in biblical studies, theology, ethics, church history, comparative religion, African American religious traditions, ministry, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students through active learning, critical inquiry, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of content area related to the candidate’s field of study, LMS use, pedagogical approaches for diverse student populations, and faculty advising.
- Ability to maintain student files pertaining to academic progress and matriculation; strong communication skills.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Nice to Have
- ABD candidates nearing completion may be considered; willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and department initiatives.
