About the Role The Professional Development Specialist I (PDSI) is part of the nursing leadership team at Dana-Farber, focusing on planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that advance the professional development of nursing staff. Working closely with nurse navigation and multidisciplinary colleagues, the PDSI ensures training aligns with regulatory standards and evidence-based practice. This position is onsite in Boston and does not involve infusion therapy.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate oncology clinical expertise by participating in patient care to identify opportunities for improvement and support staff performance.
- Lead and coordinate education, training, and competency assessment within the clinical coverage area; design orientation schedules and evaluate outcomes.
- Educate staff on policies and procedures and implement education programs, including simulation-based learning.
- Serve as a nurse planner for an ANCC Accredited Provider Unit; collaborate with unit leaders to support onboarding, preceptors, and orientation records.
- Coordinate nursing student placements and maintain communication with the Center for Clinical and Professional Development on student performance.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Director and other leaders to promote evidence-based practice and continuous professional growth.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated leadership in coordinating education and competency assessment; strong clinical oncology background; ability to translate evidence into practice.
- Experience with adult learning principles, teaching strategies, and evaluation of learning outcomes.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and influence nursing practices across units.
- Familiarity with ADNP practice models, simulation standards, and ANCC Accredited Provider Unit requirements.
Nice to Have
- Experience with simulation-based education and nurse leadership roles.
- Prior involvement in nursing education partnerships and student placements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 113,200.00 - 133,800.00 per year.
