Job title: Professional Conversion Technician - Light to HGV Technician training
About the Role The AB Volvo Ipswich site invites Light Vehicle Technicians to join a structured conversion program to become HGV Technicians. You’ll receive full training, a £1000 signing bonus after 6 months, and a qualification (IMI Level 3) upon completion to support a long-term career in heavy vehicles.
What You'll Do
- Carry out inspections, MOT preparation, diagnostic work and fault finding on trucks and buses.
- Carry out repairs on engines, gearboxes, brakes and suspension.
- Learn to use Volvo’s in-house systems and complete paperwork (job cards, service sheets).
- Work toward Volvo Service Times targets and participate in on-the-job mentoring.
- Benefit from training across Volvo Training Academy and regional managers.
What We're Looking For
- City and Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent in Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance.
- Light vehicle experience on cars, vans, plant or motorbikes; IT literate.
- Demonstrable knowledge/experience as LGV Technician / Vehicle Technician / Plant Mechanic.
- Enthusiasm to convert to HGV and commitment to ongoing training.

- Accredited training programme with Volvo Truck and Bus.
- Ongoing development and manufacturer-led courses.
- Willingness to learn in a modern workshop with advanced diagnostic equipment.

- Salary: up to £17 per hour during training (with progression thereafter).
