About the Role
Join Oxford Instruments' Production team in Bristol to assemble high-tech, cutting-edge products. You will develop new capabilities and work on some of our most complex system configurations, requiring a strong engineering background and high level of technical skills. You will be employed to work on a rotating shift pattern. What You'll Do
- Build systems, sub-assemblies and component parts for complex systems to the right quality levels and ISO standards, and to achieve build schedules.
- Ensure that the requirements of the BOM and the customer specification are achieved.
- Identify and resolve build problems; report technical issues and log using the FRACAS process.
- Maintain your level of technical competence by undertaking necessary training; act as a reference to ensure technicians understand the build sequence.
- Train and guide less experienced technicians; lead by example for build cleanliness, housekeeping and Health and Safety, and promote 5S.
- Contribute to the performance of the Production Team through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work on a rotating shift pattern in line with the rota notified by your Team Leader. What We're Looking For
- Time served Mechanical apprenticeship or City and Guilds Part 3, or HND, HNC, or BTech level 3.
- Detail fitting skills to precision level, including machining (typically milling and turning).
- Vacuum and pneumatics; pipe bending with stainless steel (¼" to ½").
- Ability to read mechanical drawings; fault finding and corrective action.
- Ideally - relevant Electrical Qualifications.
- Ideally - combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic assembly skills.
- Ideally - experience of working in the semiconductor industry.
- PC skills; highly committed team player; high standards of build quality; flexible, cooperative and punctual.
- Good communication skills. Nice to Have
