Job title: Production Supervisor

About the Role The Production Supervisor leads production personnel by providing leadership, guidance, and follow-through in support of the operations plan. The focus is to maximize production, improve quality and safety for the shift with available resources, and continuously develop the talents of the team. This is a 12-hour rotating Day shift position based in Northlake, IL.

What You'll Do

  • Promote workplace safety through weekly shift safety meetings, area safety audits, and weekly safety Gemba walks.
  • Investigate safety incident reports including near misses and incidents involving equipment or personnel; lead root-cause analyses and action plans.
  • Communicate significant business and production issues to personnel through scheduled weekly shift meetings; enforce high expectations of quality and production standards.
  • Lead effective Tier 2 meetings daily to discuss performance metrics and assign countermeasures as required.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality based on daily monitoring of visual production metrics.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems; initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
  • Perform administrative duties competently (E-Time system, LN, Virtual Client, shift reports, performance evaluations, safety investigation reports, etc.).
  • Support and reinforce three major areas of improvement opportunities: machine setups, process controls, and training; develop talents of shift personnel.
  • Initiate action on any food/product safety issue immediately; all staff has responsibility to correct or report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Directly supervise plant production employees; interview, hire, train, plan, assign, direct, appraise, reward, and discipline; address complaints and resolve problems.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent experience. Supervision, lean and ISO experience a plus; plastics industry preferred. Additional education in quality, safety, mechanical or electrical areas of knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, GMPs, and team development; ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with constant interface with people; knowledge of demand management techniques.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement. Experience with plastic extrusion and/or injection molding is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Plastic extrusion and/or injection molding experience; lean and ISO experience; strong food safety awareness and experience with continuous improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year (USD).
