Your Role and Impact

Flowserve is seeking an experienced, proactive Production Supervisor to lead shop-floor operations across our Machining department (CNC and Manual) at our manufacturing facility in Vernon, CA. In this critical operational leadership role, you will direct daily production activities, drive inventory flow, uphold rigorous quality standards, and champion a zero-incident safety culture.

ㅤ

Operating on a day-shift schedule (Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM), you will serve as the primary operational leader on the floor—optimizing machine center utilization, driving Lean manufacturing principles, and coaching craft machinists. Your leadership will directly influence plant productivity, scrap reduction, on-time customer delivery, and continuous improvement across precision machining centers supporting critical fluid motion and control hardware.

ㅤ

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily operations across the Machining department, supervising manual and CNC machinists across multiple work centers to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time part delivery.

  • Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies, including 6S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/AMEF), and Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED).

  • Own and manage key operational metrics and KPIs, including machine utilization, operating efficiency, labor productivity, scrap rates, and rework costs.

  • Execute production planning, job dispatching, and capacity balancing across milling, turning, and boring work centers to eliminate shop bottlenecks.

  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) and structured root cause problem-solving techniques to resolve machining non-conformances and process variations.

  • Champion facility safety protocols and environmental policies, conducting daily toolbox talks, hazard evaluations, and incident investigations to maintain an injury-free workplace.

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable team environment through active mentoring, skill matrix development, performance coaching, and cross-training.

  • ㅤ

  • Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct supervisory or leadership experience in a precision machine shop or industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Strong hands-on technical background in CNC machining operations (setup, tooling, programming concepts, and multi-axis turning/milling).

  • Practical expertise deploying Lean Manufacturing tools (6S, VSM, SMED, Kaizen, and standard work).

  • Demonstrated leadership capability managing craft personnel, resolving production conflicts, and driving operational accountability.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, KPI tracking, and shop scheduling.

  • Proven problem-solving ability with a structured, data-driven approach to troubleshooting mechanical and process challenges.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • ㅤ

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related discipline.

  • Prior supervisory experience within a union manufacturing environment.

  • Working familiarity with quality and environmental management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).

  • Proficiency with project management platforms (Microsoft Project) and enterprise ERP systems (SAP or Oracle).

  • Working knowledge of welding and fabrication standards (AWS, ASME Section IX).

  • Formal Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications (Green Belt / Black Belt).

  • ㅤ

  • Pay Transparency

  • The expected base salary range for this role is $94,967 – $142,517 USD annually. Final offer amounts are determined by candidate qualifications, relevant experience, skillset, and internal equity.
