Job title: Production Planning Supervisor
About the Role The Production Planning Supervisor oversees master production scheduling and the coordination between order management, labor management, and Operations to meet customer SLA. This role leads production planning activities on a Weekend/Third Shift and drives continuous improvement in scheduling processes.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary liaison between order management, labor management, Operations and the customer to drive production to the floor.
- Develop feasible master production schedules (finished goods and components) based on capacity; provide daily-bucketed schedules by SKU to manufacturing and purchasing; install production compliance metrics.
- Participate in ERP implementations and maintain scheduling processes; lead efforts to install standard MRPII-based Master Production Scheduling.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse frontline team with coaching and support; foster a culture of inclusion.
- Maintain continuous communication with departments to address production priorities and shortfalls with minimal impact to customer service.
- Update 13-week master production schedule weekly; schedule requirements using Production Planning Module; manage resources (staffing, equipment) to meet customer needs.
- Lead weekly scheduling meetings; present proposed schedules reflecting other department priorities while focusing on customer requirements.
- Partner with customer planners to understand expectations for accuracy, quality, and timeliness; develop methods to meet or exceed them.
- Assist with cycle counting and physical inventory to maintain accurate inventory accounting.
- Perform daily and weekly tasks related to production planning and scheduling.
What We're Looking For
- Experience developing and executing master production schedules and leading production planning efforts.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and MRPII methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse frontline team with coaching and development.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills (operations, purchasing, customer service).
- Familiarity with cycle counting and physical inventory processes.
- Ability to optimize plant resources (staffing, equipment) while meeting customer requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; focus on continuous improvement.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: national range $62,500 - $70,000 annually (California $70,304 - $82,000; Washington $80,169 - $82,000 depending on location).
