Job Description:

Position Summary

The Production Control Planner owns the master production schedule and the day-to-day sequencing decisions that keep the plant aligned to customer demand. This role converts customer orders and forecasts into an executable build plan, balances capacity against material availability, and is the point of contact suppliers and internal teams escalate to when a scheduled delivery or build date is at risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Master Scheduling: Build, publish, and maintain the master production schedule (MPS) across assigned lines, targeting 95 percent or higher schedule adherence on a rolling 4-week horizon.

  • Customer Demand Management: Translate customer EDI releases, forecasts, and scheduling agreements into firm and planned production orders, resolving demand versus capacity conflicts within 24 hours of identification.

  • MRP Execution: Run and interpret MRP exception messages daily, reschedule and re-sequence orders to eliminate material shortages and capacity overloads before they impact the line.

  • Supplier Coordination: Partner with the Supply Planner to align inbound component timing to the build schedule, escalating supply risk with a minimum of 48 hours lead time.

  • PCNL Management: Process and route Production/Purchase Change Notice-Letters, ensuring schedule impact is assessed and communicated within 1 business day of receipt.

  • Capacity Planning: Model line capacity by shift and by work center, flag constraints at least 2 weeks ahead of the build week, and recommend overtime, offload, or resequencing options.

  • Cross-Functional Reporting: Publish a weekly schedule attainment and risk report to plant leadership, quality, and customer-facing teams.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead scheduling process improvements, targeting a measurable reduction in schedule change churn quarter over quarter.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience; 3 to 5 years in production scheduling or production control within automotive or a comparably regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing customer demand and orders, including EDI order interpretation and scheduling agreement execution.

  • Hands-on MRP experience in an ERP system (SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, or equivalent), including exception message resolution.

  • Working knowledge of supplier planning principles and PCNL documentation and change

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is performed in both an office and plant environment. Safety glasses and steel-toe shoes are required when performing specific tasks or working in designated manufacturing areas.

  • Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) – Qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, identity, disability, protected veteran status and national origin.
