Job title: Production Assembler - 2nd Shift
About the Role Xylem is seeking a Production Assembler to join the 2nd shift at our Morton Grove, IL facility. This role involves assembling pumps, motors, valves and other components, performing sub-assembly, and verifying parts and alignments. It includes basic product testing, setup and operation of simple production tools, and packaging of finished goods.
What You'll Do
- Assemble pumps, motors, valves, and other components following blueprints, work instructions, and process sheets.
- Fit, fasten, and secure parts using hand tools, power tools, or light machinery; perform assembly of sub-components and pre-built units.
- Conduct basic functional or leak testing; use gauges or testers to confirm product quality; identify and report nonconforming materials or product issues.
- Set up and operate simple production tools and machines; perform basic preventive maintenance; keep tools and workstations in good working order.
- Retrieve, move, and stage materials; prepare, pack, and label assembled products for stock or shipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; support continuous improvement and 5S; collaborate with teammates to meet daily production goals.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED; ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Technical training, trade school, or on-the-job manufacturing experience preferred; basic mechanical aptitude; strong attention to detail.
- Prior experience in assembly, production or mechanical work preferred, but entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Reliable, safe-conscious, and able to work well in a team setting; ability to use hand and power tools.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs; flexibility to work various shifts or overtime as needed.
Nice to Have
- Experience in assembly, production or mechanical work; technical training or trade schooling.
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage range: $22.20 to $30.88 per hour. Shift differential of $1.20 per hour on 2nd and 3rd shifts; wage progression per CBA (80% starting, 90% after 1 year, 100% after 3 years).
