About this role

Product Owner II

Location: Atlanta, Georgia (Hybrid)

Role Overview

This organization is seeking a Product Owner II to manage the prototype product-development lifecycle for an innovative technology laboratory. The laboratory tests what generative artificial intelligence can do for storytelling, production, and media operations. This position owns the core platform itself, which acts as a portal and launcher hosting a growing family of prototypes. The successful candidate will manage multiple small prototypes simultaneously, guiding each from proof of concept through structured evaluation to a clear production handoff, pivot, or documented sunset. This role reports to the Director of Program Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the backlog and roadmap for the core platform, including the portal, access, single sign-on, onboarding, launcher, and shared services.

  • Maintain a current inventory of every hosted prototype, tracking its status, owner, and stage in the lifecycle.

  • Drive development and testing across multiple prototype applications simultaneously by writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and routine product demonstrations.

  • Coordinate user testing and user acceptance testing with creative and production stakeholders, and facilitate onboarding sessions for new users.

  • Define success criteria and metrics for each proof of concept up front, setting clear time boxes for evaluation.

  • Ensure architectural reviews are scheduled and completed for each prototype under evaluation.

  • Document outcomes to provide clear recommendations on whether to continue, pivot, move to production, or stop a proof of concept.

  • Prepare comprehensive handoff packages to support the transition of successful prototypes to production teams.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.

  • Experience: Three to five years of experience as a product owner or product manager, with a minimum of two years of specific experience managing artificial intelligence products.

  • Technical

Skills

  • Proficiency with generative artificial intelligence tools, including large language models and diffusion models, sufficient to write requirements and test applications hands-on. Working knowledge of node-based workflows, media pipelines, application programming interfaces, cloud and graphics processing unit cost concepts, and reporting tools such as Power BI is required. Familiarity with Jira and Confluence is necessary.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) certification.

  • Experience working within media, entertainment, or creative production environments.

  • Proven ability to partner with creative professionals, translating user needs into practical technical solutions.

  • Demonstrated track record of moving proofs of concept into production and managing multiple concurrent workstreams.
