Job title: Product Lawyer
About the Role The Product Lawyer provides legal support to TransUnion Canada to ensure product development complies with regulatory requirements and aligns with applicable laws. You will partner with product, engineering, privacy, and business teams to advise on risk, negotiate agreements, and enable compliant, innovative data-driven products.
What You'll Do
- Provide legal counsel on product development initiatives to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and other applicable laws.
- Advise on products/services or technology, review and negotiate contracts, and support commercial transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.
- Manage multiple priorities and internal/external resources while maintaining clear documentation.
- Stay current on Canadian privacy laws and regulatory developments; respond to inquiries and audits as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of common law and 5-7 years of experience as a lawyer; must be a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
- Knowledge and understanding of Canadian privacy laws, strong negotiation, contract law, and general corporate-commercial knowledge.
- Preferred: experience with consumer reporting legislation; experience advising clients on products/services or technology; strong organizational and advocacy skills; English writing; ability to draft clear and concise documents; ability to manage multiple priorities; analytical and problem-solving skills; technology proficiency.
- Experience in digital marketing technology, customer acquisition platforms, or partner ecosystems, ideally gained in a product counsel role at a technology or data-driven company.
- This role is hybrid and may require some travel.
