Job title: Product Development Engineer - Electronics R&D

About the Role In this role you will be a key member of the Electronics Gases R&D team at the Linde Technology Center in Tonawanda, NY, designing and building R&D systems for development of new materials, purification technologies, delivery systems, and packaging solutions for ESGs and advanced materials. You will work with project technical leads to support the commercialization of new specialty gases for the Linde Electronics business and identify opportunities to improve existing systems and processes.

What You'll Do

  • Design and fabricate research systems for synthesis, purification, analysis, and testing of ESGs.
  • Develop and implement protocols to measure, analyze, enhance, and control system performance; optimize efficiency.
  • Contribute to internal collaborations to identify opportunities for new products or process development programs.
  • Provide internal expertise in the design and fabrication of gas panels and control systems for handling ESGs under vacuum and high pressure.
  • Integrate and operate commercial equipment within custom ESG testing systems across varying temperature, pressure, and flow conditions.

What We're Looking For

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; 5+ years post-B.S. or 3+ years post-M.S in specialty gases product development.
  • Hands-on lab-scale experience with high-purity, hazardous ESGs.
  • Experience designing/fabricating gas panels and their control systems for handling ESGs under vacuum/high pressure.
  • Experience integrating and operating commercial equipment within custom systems for ESG testing at various temperature, pressure, and flow.
  • Familiarity with P&ID development and review, HAZOP, PHA, and design safety reviews.
  • Experience with gas analysis techniques (GC-TCD/FID, GC-MS, FTIR, CRDS, RGA).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment; strong verbal and written communication; collaborative teamwork.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with ESGs in electronics applications or related electronics market experience.
  • Additional exposure to safety standards and regulatory considerations in gas handling.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $80,000 - $102,300 per year, depending on experience.
