Job Description

A burgeoning startup is seeking to establish its core design function by hiring its first Product Designer to lead UI and UX initiatives. This is a pivotal role for an experienced professional ready to shape the user experience and drive a design-centric product development strategy.

As the lead Product Designer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design process, from conducting user research and interviews to collaborating closely with engineering teams through product release. You will define efficient design processes, partner with key stakeholders, and potentially help build out the design team as the company scales. Experience with enterprise-grade software and an understanding of modern design tools are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead product UX and UI design across the full software design process.
• Conduct user research and interviews to understand user needs.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering from prototyping through product release.
• Partner with Product, Strategy, and Partnerships teams on product direction.
• Define efficient design processes using modern technology and tools.
• Help identify, recruit, and onboard additional design talent as the company grows.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in software product design, UI, and UX.

• Experience conducting user interviews.

• Experience designing enterprise-grade software for desktop and mobile environments.

• Proficiency in Figma and/or Adobe XD, Hotjar, GitHub, and Notion.

• Experience building design teams and processes.

• Experience designing geospatial applications is an advantage.

• Understanding of interfaces for controlling robotic systems is an advantage.

• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript is an advantage.

• Ability to create or modify designs in frontend frameworks such as React is an advantage.
