Your Role

Molex is currently seeking a Product Design & Laboratory Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of connector and interconnect products. This hands-on engineering role combines mechanical design with prototype development and validation.

You will create mechanical components and small assemblies from initial CAD concepts through prototype testing and production readiness, working closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate is a curious, hands-on engineer with strong mechanical design fundamentals who enjoys combining CAD design, prototype development, testing, and problem-solving in a collaborative product development environment.

Our Team

You will work within a collaborative engineering environment supporting the development and qualification of connector systems and related electromechanical products. The team works closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supplier teams to develop manufacturable solutions that meet technical and product requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your technical expertise across connector design, product validation, manufacturing processes, and laboratory engineering activities.

What You Will Do

  • Design connector components, housings, and small assemblies using 3D/2D CAD, and create manufacturing drawings applying GD&T and tolerance principles.
  • Support prototype development and product validation, including fixture creation, component assembly, mechanical testing, and basic environmental testing.
  • Analyse design and test issues, supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous product improvement.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to support DFM/DFA, tooling requirements, and production readiness.
  • Analyse and document test results, preparing clear technical reports and design documentation for design reviews and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage CAD data, BOMs, revisions, and engineering changes through PLM/PDM systems, incorporating cost-conscious design and continuous improvement principles.

Who You Are (Key Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant hands-on experience in connectors, interconnect technology, electronic hardware, or similar products may also be considered.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, or equivalent, including parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design fundamentals.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to work closely with prototype, laboratory, and manufacturing activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical documentation and test reports.
  • Language requirements fluent in English and good German command.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with connector, interconnect, or electromechanical product design and testing, including familiarity with contact resistance, insulation resistance, or mating-cycle testing.
  • Knowledge of injection molding, metal stamping, plating, and related manufacturing processes, combined with basic FEA or simulation experience.
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems such as Windchill or Teamcenter, along with exposure to Lean/continuous improvement methods and basic project coordination.

What We Offer

  • Flexible Work Hours
  • 30 vacation days per year and special leave for specific occasions
  • 13 months’ salary plus an annual salary review
  • Attractive offers from leading brands through Corporate Benefits
  • Subsidized membership in the Urban Sports Club or EGYM Wellpass
  • JobRad® bicycle leasing
  • Company pension plan
  • Company accident insurance
  • External Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Subsidized cafeteria meals
