Job title: Product Design & Industrialization Engineer
About the Role
OPmobility seeks a Product Design & Industrialization Engineer to lead product design and industrialization, ensure QCT-compliant manufacturing, and drive cross-functional collaboration across extended teams. The role involves translating customer needs into robust design concepts, managing tooling and validation equipment, and steering projects from conception to launch.
What You'll Do
- Own product design and industrialization within QCT requirements, including tools (moulds, checking fixtures, validation equipment) and non-event launches.
- Lead cross-functional extended team and ensure lessons learned are captured.
- Perform product design & validation activities in line with HSE requirements; participate in upstream phases of the project (expertise phase, acquisition phase).
- Analyze customer needs and draw up product specifications; define design concepts to meet customer specifications and GD&T while respecting Plastic Omnium standards.
- Ensure design for manufacturing (assembly, painting, plant & packaging) is fulfilled; act as main technical contact with the customer during design & tuning phases.
- Provide functional specifications for baby parts; manage DFMEA and design reviews.
- Manage specifications, manufacturing and validation means (injection tools, checking fixtures, test jigs, End Of Arm Tooling); manage product validation (functional, geometry and cosmetic quality) and product tuning (mold tuning, fixture tuning).
- Define initial Statement of Work for product engineering perimeter including extended team, project perimeter, development budget (hours, hourly rate, travel cost) and Optimap Work Packages.
- Define and set up the engineering project planning; manage engineering project reviews, consolidate actions and provide reporting and action plans.
- Participate in QUAD (product & process feasibility milestones) reviews; track perimeter changes and report to the PM; propose adjustments linked to perimeter evolution during project lifecycle; participate in Launch Readiness process.
- Budget management: ensure product PRU commitment for design criteria; determine provisional budget, allocate resources, track perimeter changes; report gaps and propose adjustments; contribute to investment optimization through part design.
- Continuous Improvements: participate in capitalization and productivity actions; contribute to project closure with feedback on best practices and difficulties; may handle some extended team activities depending on project size.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree with experience or Master’s degree.
- English language proficiency.
- Design and/or development of plastic parts for the automotive industry.
- Project management skills.
- Leadership: able to make clear synthesis, be organized, rigorous, and communicate well.
