Job title: Product Design Director, Acquisitions, Core Card Experiences
About the Role We are seeking a Product Design Director to lead the Acquisitions Design Team within Core Card Experiences, part of the Experience Design organization. You will define and drive design strategy that informs the higher-level vision and aligns to business objectives, while leading a cross-disciplinary team of designers and collaborating with research, Product and Tech leadership.
What You'll Do
- Lead a cross-disciplinary design team and partner deeply with research, Product and Tech leadership to define and execute a cohesive design strategy for Acquisitions within Core Card Experiences.
- Drive high-impact, complex programs from discovery through delivery, blending user insights, business goals, and technical feasibility.
- Shape the product vision, set design standards, and advance design systems and artifacts (vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, prototypes).
- Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture, developing people and building strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics and other lines of business.
What We're Looking For
- Basic Qualifications: At least 8 years of product design experience; at least 3 years of experience leading design teams.
- Preferred Qualifications: At least 10 years of product design experience; at least 5 years leading design teams; experience spanning product design, service design, design strategy or content design; ability to lead design across UX/UI, strategy, content and research from strategy through delivery; experience partnering with Product managers, engineers, marketing and analytics leaders; experience working within a design system; proficiency with web and mobile technologies; expertise with Figma; experience managing an interdisciplinary design team; strong business case development; exceptional written and verbal communication; exceptional interpersonal and people-management skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with design toolkit spanning product design, service design, design strategy or content design.
- Experience leading product design teams operating across UX/UI, strategy, content and research from strategy through delivery to market.
- Experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, marketing and analytics across multiple business lines to shape strategy, OKRs, roadmaps and operating models.
- Experience working within a design system; proficiency with Figma; ability to navigate technical constraints to drive sound product decisions.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary ranges: McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000; New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900 (Director, Design). This role is eligible for performance-based incentives. Salaries for other locations will reflect the applicable pay range.
