About the Role Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is seeking a Procurement (Parts Development) Commodity Implementation Buyer Specialist who is bilingual to help manage supplier development, sourcing, and launches for assigned commodities in support of mass production. What You'll Do
- Understand program sourcing and key milestones to support launches, collaborating with Engineering and other teams.
- Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, determine price, and select suppliers with Engineering and/or other relevant teams.
- Develop and manage supply base of assigned commodities, including owning RFIs, RFPs and RFQs for multi-year full production volume.
- Prepare bid packages, conduct bidder conferences, analyze proposals, negotiate with suppliers, and administer resulting contracts.
- Negotiate long-term agreements and maintain best-in-class pricing; lead cost reduction activities.
- Develop all assigned commodities with sourced suppliers meeting required specifications and timing; evaluate final supplier selection.
- Assess supplier core competencies and cost competitiveness using HKMC and industry should-cost models.
- Direct, manage and guide suppliers from cradle to grave through HMG’s Parts Development process.
- Develop and achieve target quality at each milestone from development to mass production; establish improvement plans for any issues.
- Drive flawless launches at supplier sites; adhere to ISIR (PPAP) and promptly respond to issues related to delivery, cost, and quality.
- Hold effective working-level meetings with suppliers for fast issue closure and relationship development.
- Continuously negotiate with suppliers for best-in-class piece price and tooling cost to meet target vehicle cost.
- Develop purchasing strategies with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other teams.
- Monitor and support preventing disruptions in the supply chain; collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production Planners; maintain up-to-date supply base information.
- Plan, organize and disseminate information related to production/potential suppliers. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance or Accounting or related field from an accredited university.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual ability (as reflected in the job title).
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage supplier relationships through multiple stages of development. Nice to Have
- PPAP/ISIR familiarity.
