About the Role Aypa Power, a Blackstone portfolio company, is a leading developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects. As Procurement Manager, you will support the development, growth, and execution of Aypa’s renewables procurement platform for energy storage, solar hybrid technologies. This role involves direct interfacing with vendors, informed market analytics, and contracting support to foster growth and meet project needs.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Sourcing: Lead all sourcing activities for BESS and solar equipment, including market assessment, RFP development, vendor evaluation, and contract execution; develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimize price, technical specs, delivery reliability, supplier stability, and risk mitigation; manage comprehensive equipment supply agreements including scope, commercial terms, logistics, quality standards, and warranty provisions.
- Vendor Management & Networking: Build, maintain, and prioritize key vendor and contractor relationships; serve as primary point of contact and SME; ensure vendor alignment with company objectives.
- Negotiation and Deal Execution: Lead negotiations on complex commercial and technical terms; identify creative solutions to overcome obstacles and drive deals to closure.
- Cross-team Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Construction, Legal, and Development to ensure requirements are captured within supply contracts; work with internal and external resources to structure, negotiate, and close project transactions.
- Process Improvement: Champion procurement efficiency initiatives to enhance scalability, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience; continuously evaluate and recommend improvements.
- Transaction Support: Structure, negotiate, and close project transactions related to acquisitions, financings, and divestitures, as well as commercial and technical contract agreements.
- General: Provide procurement insights to inform business plans, development strategy, and long-term supply chain positioning; perform other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of five (5) years of procurement experience with progressive responsibility in sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Minimum of three (3) years of procurement experience in utility-scale renewables, high-voltage procurement, and/or thermal procurement.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Strong technical foundation: ability to understand equipment specifications, performance requirements, and technical trade-offs; ability to lead technical discussions with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Experience in supporting the successful execution of EPC and supply contracts.
- Solid understanding of utility-scale renewable energy project development, U.S. power markets, transmission interconnection, and economic drivers for renewable projects.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, including a proactive work style.
Nice to Have
- 3+ years in utility-scale renewables preferred.
