Job title: Process Technician
About the Role Guardian Glass in Geneva, NY is seeking a Process Technician to partner with the fabrication team to improve coater equipment performance and reliability. The role involves working in hot and cold environments and may include night/weekend support; you will develop skills to work independently with asset care, operations, process engineers and maintenance to strengthen our PBM culture.
What You'll Do
- Assist with equipment installs and testing of new and existing coater equipment
- Execute work plans for coater readiness, vent-drive system builds, sand blasting, end block and lid overhauls
- Participate in scheduled production downtime activities and development
- Learn fundamentals of the coater and understand its function
- Review failure modes, shift reports, and engage in root cause analysis to drive coater uptime improvement
- Aid operations with event recovery and provide training in areas of expertise
- Work in non-controlled temperature environments and extreme heat
- Willing to work weekday day shift, support by phone or on site as directed by the supervisor
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Other functions as needed
What We're Looking For
- Use of computer-based work tracking system
- Mechanical systems knowledge
- Fabrication experience
- Mechanical background with familiarity with standard and metric tools
- Capability to use hand tools, power tools and read mechanical prints
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of thin film coating and/or vacuum systems
- Crane use and moving suspended loads
- Area/equipment ownership
- Experience training and sharing knowledge
- Reading metric measurements
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $24 - $32 per hour
