Job title: Process Safety Leader
About the Role The Process Safety Leader is responsible for plant process safety initiatives and plays a critical role leading and driving business and operational objectives. They partner and advise maintenance, process technology, engineering and operations on all elements of the Process Safety program. This role is onsite in Curtis Bay, MD reporting to the Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Manager.
What You'll Do
- Manage and oversee the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program to ensure accurate, available, and organized Process Safety Information, including gatekeeping the MOC process, administering the Enablon system, and following up on past-due actions.
- Ensure site and staff conformity with Grace Process Safety Implementing Procedures and OSHA 1910.119 PSM of Highly Hazardous Chemicals and the Risk Management Program.
- Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis and risk assessments (HAZOPs, What-Ifs, FMEA, LOPA) and support risk-based decision making.
- Manage and oversee the Safety Instrumented Systems program, including design/installation of new devices.
- Participate in incident investigation and reporting techniques and Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA).
- Maintain process safety related materials (PSE events, PHAs, MOCs, audit findings, incident investigations).
- Participate in field walks with proper PPE to verify safeguards during startups and process/equipment changes.
- Oversee the Relief and Pressure device program, including calculations and documentation.
- Oversee the Facility Siting Program.
- Contribute to capital budget planning to improve PSM and EHS deliverables and identify development opportunities to build PSM and EHS expertise.
What We're Looking For
- B.S. degree in Engineering or Science; 7+ years in a manufacturing environment as Production/Process Engineer, Process Technologist, or EHS Specialist with hands-on PSM experience.
- Proficiency in Process Hazard Analysis and risk assessment methods (HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, LOPA).
- Experience with incident investigation, RCCA, and safety metrics.
- Knowledge of MOC and Management of Change processes; experience with Enablon (or equivalent PSM software) is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Education or experience with Primatech PHA Works or Sphera PHA Pro.
- Training/certification in PHA and PSM facilitation and procedures.
- Center for Chemical Process Safety Bootcamp training.
