Job title: Process Productivity Engineer

About the Role ASM seeks a Process Productivity Engineer to serve as a system-level expert for new product development and field support. You’ll work across product lifecycles to drive productivity, troubleshoot issues, and ensure processes meet customer requirements, with 25-50% domestic/international travel.

What You'll Do

  • Own and drive top customer productivity issues (defect reduction, tool matching, tool availability, etc.) across the product life cycle from NPI to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Interact with Hardware, Electrical, Controls, Product Support, Process, and Software engineering teams to become the system-level expert on new products transferred to the field.
  • Become expert on product interaction with customer processes and resulting tool productivity; provide guidance to engineering during design on productivity specs and best practices.
  • Design and conduct experiments using DOE and RSM; measure and interpret results to meet objectives.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems with hands-on engagement; own marathon qualification of new processes/products in the development lab, including data collection, analysis, and improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with Process, Product Support, and Hardware teams to provide real-time feedback on marathon issues and proposed solutions.
  • Ensure processes follow best-known practices throughout the product life cycle, from pre-shipment evaluation to ramp; disseminate new solutions across internal teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years hands-on hardware experience.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to characterize processes and/or hardware using first principles and experimental design techniques (DOE, RSM).
  • High motivation, enthusiasm and curiosity to learn; interest in working with new products and becoming a system-level expert.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey advanced technical concepts clearly.
  • Statistical analysis and scripting in Python, Matlab, or similar is a plus.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) 25-50%.
