About the Role The Morris/Sussex Vicinage Probation Division is seeking a Probation Officer to coordinate between courts, the Prosecutor’s Office and Probation teams. The role focuses on monitoring court orders, coordinating services for clients, and analyzing case histories, with fieldwork and occasional night hours. What You'll Do
- Monitor and enforce conditions of court orders.
- Identify client/customer case management needs, including use of cognitive behavioral interventions with clients identified as high risk.
- Inform client/customer about available services and coordinate services for client.
- Monitor case flow and treatment plans and consult with treatment team; confer with judges regarding case status and case issues.
- Analyze case histories; maintain data for statistics; prepare cases for hearing; interview clients; write case notes.
- Assign cases to appropriate track; analyze and screen cases in accordance with existing laws, regulations or professional practices.
- Administer client drug screenings.
- Perform field work including home, school and community agency visits.
- Contribute to team discussions; perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Open to Judiciary employees who are currently holding the permanent title of Probation Officer or Probation Officer Bilingual or employees who have an aggregate of one year of permanent service in the title of Investigator or Investigator Bilingual who possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences.
- Applicants who are approaching their anticipated graduation date may apply; if selected, the applicant must complete their degree no later than their start date. Applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their transcript at the time of application; an official college or university transcript is required prior to start date.
- Education Note: Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service (NACES).
- Key entry-level professional positions will be filled as they become available in the Criminal, Family and Probation Divisions; selected candidates may be assigned to any of these divisions.
- Veterans Status: indicate veteran status in cover letter/resume; information on Veteran's Preference available at NJ Department of Military and Veteran's Affairs.
- Physical Ability: ability to perform work requiring climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, reaching; may need to lift/carry 30-50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Driver's License: required only if operation of a vehicle is necessary.
- Education: degrees conferred outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged and may be preferred for certain assignments. Nice to Have
- Bilingual capabilities; experience in probation, investigation or related field.
- Experience working with court systems and treatment teams. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary ranges: Schedule A $55,943.00 to $95,153.11; Schedule B $55,943.00 to $91,346.99. For newly hired individuals, starting salary normally at the minimum; for current Judiciary employees promoted/advanced, ~5% increase of base salary, not to exceed maximum of range.
- Hybrid work schedule with up to 2 remote days per week; remote work requires multifactor authentication app and high-speed home internet.
- Travel between Sussex County Judicial Center and Morris County locations required.
