Join Baker Tilly as Private Wealth Tax Principal, a role designed for an entrepreneurial leader who will guide a growing practice serving high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families, family offices and their private businesses. You will work with firm leadership, mentor staff, and deliver strategic tax planning and advisory services that preserve and transition wealth.

What You'll Do

  • Lead compliance and consulting services to high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational affluent families, family offices and their private businesses and/or investment entities, including the technical review of complex individual, partnership, S-corp, trust, estate, gift and state tax returns.
  • Lead multiple engagements delivering proactive tax planning and strategic consulting across federal, estate, gift, charitable planning and generation skipping tax.
  • Advise clients on business succession planning and make recommendations to preserve and transition wealth.
  • Build technical competence by staying up-to-date on trends, developments and technical authorities, applying them to complex situations.
  • Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
  • Leverage entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally to acquire new clients, projects and revenue.
  • Invest in professional development, participating in firm-wide learning and development programs.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, mentoring associates to meet their professional goals.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, friendships and work-life balance through team activities and events.

What We're Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or law required.
  • CPA or JD required.
  • Experience as a leader in a public accounting firm in the Tax space.
  • Fifteen (15)+ years’ experience in tax planning and consulting for wealthy individuals, family members and their trusts, investment entities, and private businesses, with strong experience in personal taxation, trust taxation, estate & gift taxation, charitable taxation, and exposure to flow-through entities, partnership taxation and corporate taxation.
  • Six (6)+ years supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and stay current on applicable strategies, with a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely completion of projects.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S., without sponsorship, highly preferred.
