Job title: Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Specialist
About the Role In this role, the Specialist leads the management of a diverse, multi-country portfolio of high-value donor relationships in close collaboration with partners across the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The role also contributes to the design, testing, and implementation of innovative fundraising initiatives that expand philanthropic engagement and mobilize sustainable support for people affected by conflicts around the world.
What You'll Do
- Strategic partnership development: Identify joint high-value fundraising opportunities with and through National Societies and the IFRC; develop, test and implement joint fundraising strategies and action plans with structured philanthropy partners in priority markets; identify and pursue collaboration opportunities with corporates, foundations, trusts, and other structured philanthropy actors; develop value propositions and engagement models; facilitate coordination between ICRC and Movement fundraising teams.
- Donor engagement and portfolio management: Manage and develop a portfolio of major donors, focusing on structured philanthropy and long-term partnerships; identify and acquire new high-value donors; build personalized stewardship plans; use research, data, press sources and intelligence to define outreach; represent the ICRC in high-level donor engagements with consistent institutional messaging.
- Fundraising tools, data, and compliance: Contribute to development of tailored fundraising tools, proposals, reports and engagement platforms; collaborate with enabler teams (Income & Data, Digital, CRM, tool owners) to improve systems; ensure accurate registration of pledges, contributions, earmarking, and follow-up actions in the CRM; support data protection, due diligence, ethical screening, and institutional policies; contribute to forecasting, budgeting and monitoring of income and related fundraising costs.
- Market intelligence and innovation: Monitor trends in Movement fundraising, corporate philanthropy and foundation giving; contribute to prospect research and donor mapping; keep accurate records of donor and partnership activity; propose innovative fundraising approaches and assess their relevance for ICRC and the Movement.
What We're Looking For
- 6 to 9 years of professional experience, including significant experience in major gifts fundraising; Master's Degree required in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of private fundraising and portfolio management, with knowledge of philanthropic landscapes and trends across one or more markets, preferably Europe.
- 3 years of experience developing and implementing donor engagement plans; Fluency in English; additional languages (French, Arabic, Spanish, German or Italian) are a strong asset.
- Experience working within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and/or another humanitarian organization, with exposure to humanitarian contexts.
