About the Role The Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Specialist leads the management of a diverse, multi-country portfolio of high-value donor relationships and helps design, test, and implement innovative fundraising initiatives. Working within the Movement Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (MPPP) team, the role focuses on mobilizing sustainable support for people affected by conflicts through strategic philanthropy partnerships and major giving. What You'll Do
- Strategic partnership development: identifies and pursues joint fundraising opportunities with National Societies and the IFRC; develops, tests, and implements joint fundraising strategies and action plans; identifies opportunities with corporates, foundations, trusts, and other structured philanthropy actors; develops value propositions and engagement models; coordinates with Movement fundraising teams to ensure strategic alignment.
- Donor engagement and portfolio management: manages a portfolio of major donors, focuses on structured philanthropy and long-term partnerships; identifies and acquires new high-value donors; builds personalized stewardship plans; uses research and data to guide outreach; represents the ICRC in high-level donor engagements with consistent institutional messaging.
- Fundraising tools, data, and compliance: develops tailored fundraising tools, proposals, reports, and engagement platforms; collaborates with Income & Data, Digital, CRM, and tool owners to improve fundraising systems; ensures accurate pledges, earmarking, and follow-up in CRM; supports data protection, due diligence, ethical screening, and institutional policies; contributes to forecasting, budgeting, and monitoring income and related costs.
- Market intelligence and innovation: monitors trends in Movement fundraising and philanthropy; contributes to prospect research and donor mapping; maintains accurate records of donor activity; proposes innovative fundraising approaches and assesses relevance for the ICRC and Movement. What We're Looking For
- 6 to 9 years of professional experience, including significant experience in major gifts fundraising.
- Master's Degree in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of private fundraising and portfolio management, with knowledge of philanthropic landscapes across one or more markets, preferably Europe.
- 3 years of experience developing and implementing donor engagement plans.
- Fluency in English; additional languages such as French, Arabic, Spanish, German or Italian are a strong asset.
- Experience working within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and/or another humanitarian organization.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate across functions and align with humanitarian mandate and resource mobilization strategy. Nice to Have
