About the Role Perkins Coie’s national Private Client Services Group seeks an experienced associate with at least five years of relevant transactional experience in trust and estate planning and administration to join our team. The search is open to multiple offices (Seattle, Austin, New York, Chicago, Bellevue). The role focuses on sophisticated estate and tax planning for individuals and families, including creating and administering family offices, administering, decanting, and modifying trusts, and handling complex transfer tax issues.
What You'll Do
- Provide transactional trust and estate planning and administration services for individuals and families, including matters involving business interests, art, and other unusual assets.
- Administer trusts and estates, including decanting and modifying trusts as appropriate, and manage related tax planning and controversy matters before the IRS.
- Collaborate with the Private Client Services Group across offices to serve high-net-worth clients.
- Analyze complex transfer tax issues and advise on sophisticated estate and tax planning techniques.
- Counsel clients on planning with respect to business interests, art, and other assets.
What We're Looking For
- At least five years of relevant transactional experience in trust and estate planning and administration.
- Strong academic credentials and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- LL.M. in tax is preferred but not required.
- Principals only.
Nice to Have
- LL.M. in tax is preferred (if not already required).
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation range: $365,000 to $420,000 annually.
