Principal Test Engineer

About the Role Skyworks is seeking a full-time Principal Test Engineer for our Ottawa location supporting WiFi products. You will lead test development for WiFi, designing, developing, and implementing test procedures in automatic test equipment (ATE) to support volume production and cost goals, tackling DFT and ATE issues during silicon bring-up and high-volume manufacturing. You will collaborate with RF test equipment vendors and cross-functional teams to drive new test technologies and ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability of next-generation RF products.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment; prepare test and diagnostic programs, help design test fixtures and equipment, and complete specifications and procedures for new products.
• Plan the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
• Develop RFIC ATE test solutions for NPI and high-volume manufacturing.
• Execute test strategies for improvements of yield, test coverage, quality, test platform conversions and test cost.
• Ensure successful and efficient transfer of test solutions to manufacturing sites and subcontractors.
• Act as the interface between internal engineering teams and external vendors.
• Collaborate with ATE and RF test equipment vendors to drive roadmaps, development and integration of new test technologies.
• Work cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability of RF products.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, Physics, CE or closely related field with 12 years’ experience or MS degree and 8 years’ experience.
• Experience in developing high-volume package and wafer probe RFIC solutions on ATE platforms.
• Familiarity with the operation of semiconductor IC handlers and wafer probers.
• Experience with instruments such as power supplies, DC meters, VNA, RF signal generators, RF spectrum analyzer, RF tuners and power meters.
• Knowledge of RF wireless standards such as WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, etc.
• Experience in transferring test solutions to offshore manufacturing partners.
• Familiarity in working in Test Automation using GPIB, USB, LXI etc.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in developing test solutions on RF PA, BAW Filters, LNA, Switches, Couplers and Multiplexers.
• Experience in working with RF ATE Systems like Cohu RedDragon, NI STS & Advantest 93K.
• PCB Design of RF test socket boards and wafer probe cards.
• Programming proficiency in C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.
• Semiconductor IC communication protocols - MIPI, I2C, 3-wire bus, etc.

Compensation & Benefits

• The typical total targeted cash range for this role is CAD $158,973 - $206,682 per year. Starting compensation will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
