About the Role Amazon AWS Infrastructure Services seeks a Principal Tech Ops Engineer to lead and scale regional manufacturing operations across a complex, multi-vendor hardware production ecosystem. This role owns end-to-end orchestration of external manufacturing partners, driving supplier onboarding, site enablement, and technical roadmap development, with accountability for production performance and customer delivery. You will influence cross-functional leadership and set strategic direction to enable enterprise hardware at scale. What You'll Do
- Define and own the 3 to 5 year manufacturing operations strategy, anticipate capacity needs, identify capability gaps, and prioritize technology investments.
- Lead transformational programs including advanced automation deployment, robotics integration, and lights-out manufacturing initiatives.
- Drive manufacturing agility with flexible line configurations, rapid changeover capabilities, and multi-product qualification strategies to respond to evolving demand and technology transitions.
- Own capital expenditure planning for manufacturing operations, developing rigorous business cases quantifying returns on equipment investments, facility expansions, and technology upgrades.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks across the manufacturing network, including single points of failure, capacity constraints, systemic quality issues, and workforce availability.
- Manage end-to-end orchestration of external manufacturing partners, including supplier onboarding cycles and site enablement.
- Shape operational planning inputs to determine how the region builds and delivers enterprise hardware at scale.
- Build consensus and drive decisions across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Hardware Engineering, Risk Management, Public Policy, Finance, and Customer-facing organizations while maintaining accountability for production performance.
- Develop high-quality strategic documents to guide execution. What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of technical program management experience.
- Deep expertise in high-mix, high-complexity hardware manufacturing.
- Experience leading product transitions, capacity ramps, supplier onboarding cycles, and operational transformations.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic environments with shifting product mix, evolving customer demand, and technology transitions.
- Proven ability to orchestrate complex integration programs across manufacturing sites and multi-vendor ecosystems; deliver next-generation technology programs.
- Experience enabling new manufacturing capabilities such as liquid-cooled rack production; familiarity with air-to-liquid cooling transitions.
- Strong technical depth across server, storage, and network hardware architectures; and expertise in program management, supply chain operations, capacity modeling, NPI, and manufacturing engineering.
- Proficient in driving systemic root cause resolution using structured methodologies (5 Whys, 8D, Six Sigma) and owning site capacity planning.
- Strong financial acumen including labor optimization, cost per unit, and overall cost competitiveness.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership, with ability to influence executive leadership. Nice to Have
- Experience with liquid-cooled infrastructure deployment.
- Experience building and leading greenfield Manufacturing Center of Excellence.
- Prior experience with multi-site manufacturing at scale and global replication.
