Job title: Principal Tech Ops Engineer, AWS Rack Manufacturing
About the Role AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. You’ll lead regional manufacturing operations across a multi-vendor hardware ecosystem, owning end-to-end orchestration of external manufacturing partners, supplier onboarding, site enablement, and technical roadmaps to deliver enterprise hardware at scale. You will be the single threaded owner for manufacturing outcomes, align stakeholders, and drive decisions to meet business scaling targets while maintaining safety and security standards.
What You'll Do
- Define and own the 3 to 5 year manufacturing operations strategy, anticipating future capacity needs, identifying critical capability gaps, and prioritizing technology investments that position the region for sustained growth.
- Lead transformational programs that fundamentally reshape manufacturing capability, including advanced automation deployment, robotics integration, and lights out manufacturing initiatives.
- Drive manufacturing agility through flexible line configurations, rapid changeover capabilities, and multi product qualification strategies that enable the network to respond to evolving customer demand and technology transitions.
- Own capital expenditure planning for manufacturing operations, developing rigorous business cases that quantify returns on equipment investments, facility expansions, and technology upgrades.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks across the manufacturing network, including single points of failure, capacity constraints, systemic quality issues, and workforce availability challenges before they impact delivery.
- Develop high quality strategic documents and communicate findings through structured business reviews, establishing metrics that define success and influencing across engineering, supply chain, quality, and executive leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of technical program management experience in high-mix, high-complexity hardware manufacturing.
- Tenured expertise in leading organizations through product transitions, capacity ramps, supplier onboarding cycles, and operational transformations.
- Ability to operate in dynamic environments with shifting product mix, evolving customer demand, and technology transitions requiring rapid, high-judgment decision making that balances quality, cost, throughput, and delivery reliability.
- Strong technical depth across server, storage, and network hardware architectures, with expertise in program management, supply chain operations, capacity modeling, new product introduction, and manufacturing engineering.
- Experience owning complex integration programs from conception through design, validation, implementation, and scaling across manufacturing sites; managing a multi-vendor ecosystem and delivering next generation technology programs including enabling liquid cooled rack production.
- Demonstrated ability to lead site capacity planning and maintain accountability for direct and indirect labor optimization, cost per unit, and overall cost competitiveness.
- Commitment to safety, security, and operational excellence; ability to communicate with clarity through structured business reviews and influence across engineering, supply chain, quality, and executive leadership.
