About the Role Microsoft is seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple software engineering teams in delivering large-scale, customer-focused software solutions. You will define the technical strategy, drive architecture decisions, and mentor engineers to ship high-quality products at speed. What You'll Do
- Provide technical and people leadership to multiple software engineering teams to deliver complex systems at scale.
- Set the technical vision, roadmaps, and engineering best practices; own architecture and design reviews.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and program management to plan, estimate, and execute across teams.
- Hire, grow, and retain top engineering talent; mentor engineers and foster a culture of accountability, learning, and inclusion.
- Ensure quality, reliability, security, and performance; drive release planning and risk mitigation.
- Partner with senior leadership to align initiatives with business goals and customer needs.
- Represent teams in cross-organizational forums and advocate for engineering excellence. What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record building and shipping large-scale systems.
- Strong leadership and people management skills; experience leading multiple teams or a large matrix organization.
- Deep technical background in software development, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and modern development practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence without authority and operate across multiple time zones.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies and cloud platforms (Azure) is a plus. Nice to Have
- Experience with AI/ML, security, data engineering, or platform engineering.
- Experience in mentoring engineers from diverse backgrounds and improving inclusion.
