About the Role SimCorp is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our engineering team building a next‑generation fintech solution for trading OTC (Over-the-Counter) instruments. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fintech, scalable web applications, and driving technical excellence across multiple teams supporting the product. You will help shape architecture, implement key features and business logic, and lead a newly formed team aligned with a top strategic initiative.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of a new web application with robust backend systems for a proven B2B fintech solution.
• Create scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions using C# and Angular.
• Drive modernization, including refactoring of legacy systems and cloud migration to Azure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute product roadmaps.
• Lead by example on best practices in software engineering, including clean code, testing, and CI/CD.
• Explore and adopt functional programming paradigms, either through prior experience or a strong willingness to learn.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders across business and technology domains.
• Work with product management to refine new features and create technical roadmaps.
• Pursue continuous learning for yourself, the team, and the product.

What We're Looking For

• Excellent C# and Angular skills: proficiency for frontend and backend development of dynamic, responsive web applications.
• Good Azure skills: experience with Azure cloud services and deployment with a cost-optimization focus.
• Some experience with functional programming or readiness to learn: familiarity with languages such as OCaml, Standard ML, F#, Scala, or Haskell is a plus.
• Experience with architecture design: track record of designing and implementing scalable web applications with complex backend logic.
• Experience in designing and developing REST APIs.
• Familiarity with legacy systems and experience in refactoring and modernization projects.
• Interest and ability to work with complex architecture while simplifying and creating maintainable systems.
• Demonstrated success in a multinational company focused on digital product development.
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Motivation to work within the financial domain, strong collaboration, and English fluency.
• Willingness to learn and acquire new technical and programming skills.
• Ability to experiment and derive lessons from successes and failures, and to identify tech debt.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with functional programming languages (OCaml, Standard ML, F#, Scala, Haskell) is a plus.
