About the Role Allogene Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist to lead the Pilot Plant function within Process Sciences, Process and Product Development. This role will drive the scale-up, technology transfer, and execution of pilot-scale studies to support the development and manufacture of AlloCAR T products. What You'll Do
- Lead Pilot Plant activities to enable process development and scale-up for Allogene's product candidates.
- Design, plan, and execute pilot-scale experiments; generate kinetic and process data; support feasibility and transfer to GMP manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Process Chemistry, Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory) to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant processes.
- Develop and implement technology transfer strategies to manufacturing.
- Mentor and supervise scientists in Pilot Plant operations. What We're Looking For
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field; or MS with significant industrial experience.
- Strong background in pilot plant operations, scale-up, process development, with experience in biotech or cell therapy manufacturing.
- Knowledge of cGMP, regulatory expectations, analytical methods, and process characterization.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills. Nice to Have
- Experience with allogeneic cell therapies (CAR-T) or cell therapy development; hands-on experience with fermentation, purification, and cell processing.
- Familiarity with single-use systems, process modeling, and data analytics. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $155,000 - $180,000 per year.
