Job title: Principal Scientist – Lead Discovery and Targeted Protein Degradation Biochemistry
About the Role Lead discovery programs focused on protein biochemistry and targeted protein degradation. Responsible for protein production, assay development, and mechanistic characterization to enable discovery and advancement of novel small-molecule therapeutics, while leading a small team of scientists.
What You'll Do
- Lead protein expression, purification, and characterization strategies for challenging proteins to enable discovery of novel small-molecule therapeutics.
- Develop and implement biochemical and biophysical assays to support hit identification, validation, optimization, and mechanism-of-action studies.
- Lead protein reagent generation and biochemical assay development to support challenging drug discovery campaigns, including induced proximity and targeted protein degradation programs.
- Serve as a key scientific partner to cross-functional discovery teams, providing technical expertise across a growing portfolio of small-molecule therapeutics.
- Lead and develop a small team of scientists, providing scientific direction and mentorship.
- Contribute to scientific strategy and communicate progress and findings to stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in protein biochemistry and mechanistic assay development.
- Experience leading a small team of scientists and providing mentorship.
- Strong background in protein expression, purification, and characterization; biochemical and biophysical assay development; and mechanism-of-action studies.
- Experience supporting hit-to-lead discovery and advancement of small-molecule therapeutics; ability to work cross-functionally with discovery teams.
- Knowledge of induced proximity and targeted protein degradation programs is a plus.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.
