About the Role Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s cloud products. The Principal Physical Design Engineer will join SCHIE to lead the physical design aspects of silicon used in Microsoft’s data center platforms. What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end physical design flows for silicon, including floorplanning, placement, routing, timing and power integrity considerations.
- Collaborate with RTL, verification, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, high-performance, and manufacturable silicon solutions.
- Drive tapeouts, signoff, and post-silicon bring-up activities across multiple process nodes.
- mentor and guide junior engineers, influence design methodologies, and contribute to architectural decisions for cloud infrastructure hardware. What We're Looking For
- Deep hands-on experience with physical design, place-and-route, timing analysis, power integrity, and silicon validation.
- Track record of successful silicon tapeouts and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
