As a Principal Physical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the core silicon development lifecycle, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable physical designs for Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure. What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize physical design layouts for silicon components used in Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with RTL/logic, verification, EDA, and design-for-test teams to ensure robust, high-performance silicon delivery.
- Participate in tapeouts, sign-off, and power-performance-area (PPA) optimization across multiple projects.
- Influence architecture trade-offs and drive improvements in physical design flows and methodologies.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers as part of a growing silicon engineering organization. What We're Looking For
- Strong background in physical design engineering for silicon (place-and-route, timing closure, DRC/LVS, sign-off).
- 10+ years of experience in hardware/silicon engineering, preferably in cloud-scale data-center technologies.
- Proficiency with industry tools (e.g., Calibre, Synopsys, Mentor, TSV, etc.) and standard cell/physical design methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field (PhD is a plus). Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud data-center silicon, low-power designs, and large-scale silicon programs.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring capabilities.
- Familiarity with Windows hardware or Microsoft data-center hardware ecosystems. Compensation & Benefits
