Principal Network Engineer – APAC

A career opportunity with NSCALE in Singapore for a Principal Network Engineer – APAC. Responsibilities

• Be a team player in scaling a high-performing engineering team responsible for core platform systems used across the company
• Define and drive multi-quarter platform initiatives that improve delivery velocity, system reliability and quality based on network validations, and evolve the product in partnership with Product Management and Partner Engineering teams
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders to evolve the platform as a product, balancing long-term architecture with near-term business needs
• Take ambiguous, high-impact problem areas (such as system scalability, vendor experience, platform abstractions) and translate them into clear execution plans
• Drive alignment across multiple teams working on complex, interdependent systems including internal platforms, infrastructure, and developer tooling
• Raise the bar on engineering quality, operational excellence, and execution across the platform organization

Requirements

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Technology or equivalent

• At least 10+ years of Network Engineering experience

• Experience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environment and in a network operations role

• Experience with overlay networking is a plus

• Ability to travel across APAC up to 50% of the time

• Technical Experience

• Experience with Infiniband or RoCE networking

• Strong knowledge of protocols including MPLS, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and DHCP; knowledge of VxLAN and EVPN is advantageous

• Experience with scripting or automation and data centre design (Python preferred, or demonstrated expertise in scripting/compiled languages)

• Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, SSL, network monitoring, and telemetry solutions

• Experience with network modelling and programming using YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF

• Ability to apply professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively

• Ability to work with limited supervision

• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

• Able to influence product roadmap direction, features, and priorities with good judgment

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
