About the Role
As a Principal ML System Engineer in the Rovo & AI Engineering org, you’ll drive bleeding-edge ML innovations for Rovo Chat, build agent harnesses, and push quality, reliability, and latency to new levels. You’ll also lead engineers on complex projects from design through launch and collaborate with internal customers to align on expectations and results.
What You'll Do

Lead the design, development, and deployment of agent harnesses for Rovo Chat to deliver quality, reliability, and latency improvements at scale.

Bring bleeding-edge ML innovations to the product and scale Gen AI applications for customer-facing use.

Mentor and lead other engineers, guiding technical design-to-launch across cross-functional teams.

Collaborate with internal customers to gather input, communicate results, and set expectations.

Drive broader AI adoption across Atlassian offerings, ensuring AI's transformative potential is realized.

What We're Looking For

7+ years of experience as a software developer.

Experience building customer facing Gen AI Applications at scale.

Experience pushing the state of the art to achieve breakthrough quality and reliability.

Deep understanding of ML project lifecycle.

Experience leading and supporting senior engineers and working cross-functionally.

Nice to Have

Expertise in taking a platform approach to building product features, enabling multi team contributions.

Experience with efficiently scaling and deploying Machine Learning models.

Compensation & Benefits
-
Base pay ranges for new hires in the United States: Zone A: $236,700 - $309,025; Zone B: $213,000 - $278,123; Zone C: $196,400 - $256,491.

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
